Nationwide, the Registry shows 41,394 active Certified Residential, 40,484 active Certified General and 5,780 active Licensed Residential credentials across the jurisdictions below. An appraiser licensed in several states is counted in each state, so these are credentials, not people.

How to read this
- Counts are active credentials only, straight from the Registry’s “Download All Records” file.
- The 3+ year column is an estimate. Active credentials only. 3+ year estimate = active Certified Residential or Certified General credentials whose current effective date is at least 3 years old and with no listed disciplinary action, rounded to the nearest 10. Some states report the latest renewal date as the effective date; for those no estimate is shown.
- It can’t tell who has taken the supervisor course or who is willing to take a trainee. That’s what verified supervisor listings are for.
- Trainees aren’t in the Registry, so they aren’t counted here.
